Tisski are sleeping rough with Byte Night

By September 4, 2018 News No Comments

On Friday 5 October colleagues from Tisski will be sleeping out in Birmingham City Centre to raise much-needed funds for Action for Children’s Byte Night campaign. Byte Night raises money to house and support children and young adults who have been made homeless. Family breakdown, mental health issues and abuse in the home are just some of the reasons for this.

What is Byte Night?

Every year, a staggering 83,000 young people in the UK experience youth homelessness. Action for Children is working hard to help these people with Byte Night, which is now the UK’s largest corporate sleepout event.  Individuals and teams from companies like Tisski, Microsoft and the Department for Education sleep out to raise vital funds to prevent youth homelessness. They will be sleeping out in 12 different locations across the UK to raise funds for this incredible cause.

Darren Bassett, Head of Digital Transformation at Tisski and also a Board member of the Midlands Byte Night said:

“I really enjoyed taking part in Byte Night 2017. It was my first experience and the event is really well-organised. As well as providing an opportunity to raise lots of money for a great cause, it was amazing to hear from some of the young people that had benefitted from the work of the charity. Despite the drizzle that woke me up at about 5 am there wasn’t anything that would have stopped me from taking part again this year.”

Over 1500 people slept out at Byte Night 2017.  This year, six of all those participating in Birmingham will be from Team Tisski.

Help us raise funds.

To raise funds we have a raffle in progress with some great prizes. These include tickets to Warwick Castle and Hatton Country World.  We also have bottles of champagne, boxes of chocolates, vouchers for a meal at Stoneleigh Park’s Farmers Fayre amongst other items.  If you’d like to buy tickets for £2 each and support our fundraising please donate here stating *RAFFLE* and how many tickets you would like in your comment.

Also, now that the Great British Bake Off has started again we are also hoping to raise money with a bake-off on our home turf at Stoneleigh Park. So, please pop in and see us on Thursday 6 September and treat yourself to some delicious bakes.

If you are not local but would still like to donate then please use the just giving link here.  All donations are gratefully received and will make a massive difference to a young homeless person in the UK.
