We’re pleased to be supporting Help Ukraine Huntingdonshire with our charity donation this month – a local community group in Huntingdonshire, chosen by participants of the group, Company Secretary, Kelly Atkinson, and Head of Finance and HR, Rachel Nimmons.
After witnessing the saddening events currently taking place in Ukraine, a group of locals in Huntingdonshire decided to show their support by setting up a dedicated community group. With help from the local council and a myriad of volunteers, the group is fundraising to support Ukrainian refugees and host families. At present, the group is helping to support over 70 Ukrainians who have fled from their home country – a number set to rise as new guests arrive each week.
The community group are banding together to raise funds and collect donations for host families, ensuring the donations are distributed fairly to everyone in need. Alongside the essentials, such as toiletries, shoes and clothing, they are also looking to provide access to travel, sports programmes, counselling and medical care for Ukrainian families. It’s important that those who have travelled to the UK to seek refuge have everything they need to live a successful life, despite the difficult circumstances.
Along with fundraising, the group have also been arranging weekly social gatherings and larger events to support the families involved and have some much-needed fun! Huntingdonshire locals and supporters of the group, Kelly and Rachel attended one of the larger events at Buckden Towers for an evening of live music and picnic food. Tisski were delighted to contribute towards the event with food for the evening, as well as a donation of toiletries, clothes for children and other essentials for new arrivals settling in.
If you’re interested in learning more about the community group, you can find what they’re up to on the Help Ukraine Huntingdonshire Facebook page.
