We are pleased to be supporting Parkinson’s UK with our £2,000 charity donation this month, chosen by Senior Consultant, Gary Sherlock. Parkinson’s UK is a cause that means a lot to Gary, as his late parents had been active supporters of the charity.
Parkinson's Disease Society – now Parkinson's UK – was founded by Mali Jenkins in 1969 and since then, the charity has been working tirelessly to provide help and support to those with Parkinson's, as well as their relatives and carers. Alongside offering support, Parkinson's UK also contributes towards and provides valuable research into understanding the condition. Their research has led to major discoveries and improvements, including a variety of studies which have directly contributed towards the development of helpful drugs and treatments.
The charity also provides a wealth of helpful resources to those affected by Parkinson’s, including information on available benefits and grants, tips and to-do lists for those newly diagnosed, guides for carers and much more.
Parkinson’s UK works directly alongside people with Parkinson’s, as well as scientists, supporters, carers and clinicians to ensure they’re doing all they can to improve the lives of everyone affected by Parkinson’s. Their work is entirely dependent on donations, and they host and encourage a variety of fun, inspiring events and challenges to help with their fundraising goals.
