This month, we awarded our £2,000 donation to Riverbank Academy – a Coventry school for 11 to 19-year-olds with a variety of special education needs – after they got in touch to tell us about their sensory garden refurbishment project.
Riverbank Academy promote learning both inside and outside of the classroom, and students with severe learning difficulties and profound autism benefit greatly from sensory experiences. This makes the academy’s sensory garden an invaluable resource – but one in desperate need of a renovation.
Staff members at Riverbank are hoping to soon introduce a range of different textures, the sound of running water, scented plants and herbs, chimes and music, a calm and relaxed seating area, and an activity zone to enhance engagement and interaction for their students.
The team were in search of sponsors to help transform their students’ dream sensory garden into reality after fundraising activities were impacted by the Covid-19 lockdown, causing delays and a lack of financial support.
Tisski were only too happy to make a contribution towards a project which will bring smiles to the faces of many children and young people in attendance at the academy and wish Riverbank the best of luck in giving their sensory garden a much needed and well-deserved refurb.
In addition to our monthly donation, we have recently started using Amazon Smile to purchase office supplies, meaning 0.5% of all purchases we make via the online store will go to a charity of our choice.
Our current charity of choice is Magic Breakfast, who work to provide a nourishing breakfast to children living in poverty and educate families on the benefits of healthy eating habits. To find about more about their plight, please visit the Magic Breakfast website.
