This September, we donated £2,000 to Change Grow Live, a nationwide charity that supports people with drug and alcohol dependency, as well as those caught up in a life of crime and struggling to break free.
Founded back in 1977 when a group of magistrates in Sussex noticed people going to prison, being released with no home to go to, re-offending and being sent back to prison, over and over again, Change Grow Live has come a long way since then – and had several different aliases along the way!
One thing that hasn’t changed is the charity’s passion for helping people change the direction their lives are going in.
Change Grow Live was chosen as our charity of the month by our Head of Service Delivery, Mark Smith. “Having witnessed someone who was suicidal and had given up on life due to a debilitating alcohol dependency was heart-breaking,” Mark said. “Literally, they had lost everything; their job, car, family, friends and they were living in a half-way house unable to feed themselves, spending every last penny on alcohol."
“With the help of Change Grow Live rehab, their life has been turned around and that’s been truly amazing to witness. Not only does this person no longer drink alcohol, but they also have since found a job, bought a car, rekindled relationships with family members and moved into a flat of their own. I cannot speak highly enough about how this charity transforms lives.”
