Earlier this year, we held our second ever step challenge – a fun way of encouraging us all to become a little more active throughout summer. The challenge was open to those from Tisski, as well as our customers, who set out in their teams to hit a target distance of 641.6 kilometres (the amount required to make it from London to Edinburgh).
As the eight-week challenge ended, between all 26 teams who took part, we’d managed to walk over 36 million steps, equivalent to nearly 25 thousand kilometres in total. The two winning teams, one Tisski team and one customer team, were each given the opportunity to choose a charity to receive half of Tisski’s £2,000 September donation.
The triumphant customer team were the Acas iPlods, who were proudly representing the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (Acas). The team managed to cover 1302 kilometres, which is enough distance to make it all the way to Edinburgh and back again! The Acas iPlods chose the Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal to receive a £1,000 donation. The Red Cross teams have been working tirelessly to provide those affected by the conflict in Ukraine with essential emergency support, helping to supply people still in Ukraine, and those who have fled to the UK, with food, water, medical care, shelter, and more.
The victorious Tisski team, the Tisski-asurus-Wrecks, managed to complete a whopping 1799 kilometres between the three of them, making them the overall winners of the step challenge. The Tisski-asurus-Wrecks chose to donate their £1,000 to the Alice Charity – a worthy cause supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable families across Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-Under-Lyme. The charity work to provide emotional and practical support to families, including free baby and toddler groups, emergency food supplies, home improvements and someone to confide in during challenging times.
Thank you to everyone who took part in our London to Edinburgh step challenge, and congratulations to our two winning teams. We can’t wait for the next challenge!
